On September 10th, 2010, Shandong Provincial Department of Environmental Protection convened a meeting on the Evaluation and Acceptance of the project of Chitin Fiber and its Use on Electrostatic Flocking Fabric and Related Manufacturing Technology at Shandong New Materials Trends’ conference room.

The evaluation and acceptance committee is composed of 7 experts from Shandong University, Shandong Textile Design Institute, Shandong Environmental Protection Science Research and Design Institute, Shandong Chemical Fiber Institute, and Shandong Textile Engineering Society. Xie Feng, director of the Environmental Protection Department of Shandong Province, presided over the meeting. Government officials from Weifang local and Shandong province, and Zhao Li, chairman of Shandong New Material Trends, attended the meeting as well.

Zhao Li, on behalf of Shandong New Materials Trends, warmly welcomed the experts and thanked government officials for their strong support of the project.

Firstly, the committee checked the production lines and reviewed the relevant documents of Chitin fiber. It was unanimously agreed this project carried great significance within the flocking industry. Finished products with the properties of low formaldehyde, high flocking density, flame retardancy, moisture resistance and oil repellency etc. are best choice of interior designers. Wear resistance of Martindale test method of over 25,000 times which is more than 4 times that of conventional ones and the formaldehyde content is 1/6 of that of conventional fabric, making it a brand new flocked fabric. On top of that, the fully automatic AC electrostatic flocking technology has the characteristics of high efficiency and super stability. What’s more, stringent routine maintenance procedure was followed to achieve cleaner production.

Currently, this kind of flocked upholstery fabric has been used in some places, with bright market prospects, which is of great significance for expanding the flocking field and better expanding the market.
